SOC111 - The Working Poor in America1 credit hour(s) This course focuses on the working poor in America with particular emphasis on unemployment, poverty, and the plight of the working class since the 2008 recession. Students explore the topic using an assortment of readings to identify the circumstances that contributed to the working poor, to examine the various elements that create social stratification and disparity, and to learn about successful strategies that have impacted social change.
