Program Overview
The Education Specialist (EdS) in Curriculum and Instruction degree program is designed to prepare educators as change agents and leaders in the P-12 setting who engage actively in their communities, using appropriate pedagogy and technology to foster the development of global citizens. This program does not lead to certification or any credential endorsement.
Argosy University, Atlanta Students
The programs offered through Argosy University, Atlanta College of Education DO NOT lead to teacher or administrator certification, licensure, or endorsement in any State in the United States. Further, due to recent rule changes by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC), students must meet program completion deadlines and rules issued by the PSC in order to be eligible for possible certification upgrade.

Admission Requirements
- A master’s degree in education or an aligned field from a regionally accredited institution, a nationally accredited institution approved and documented by the faculty and dean of the College of Education, or an appropriately certified foreign institution
- A grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) in work leading to the master’s degree and in any subsequent graduate study
- A minimum score on an Argosy University pre-approved English language proficiency test is required for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction as specified in Section Five, Admission Policies, “English Language Proficiency Policy .”
- Possession of an initial teaching certificate and/or current experience working in the P-12 setting with students
- A criminal background check or fingerprint check

- Submission of evidence of current criminal background check or fingerprint check (typically a copy of a teaching certificate/license)
Graduation Requirements
To qualify for graduation, the following conditions must be met:
- Successful completion of 30 credit hours that includes
- 27 credit hours of Core course requirements
- 3 credit hours of Elective course requirements
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 and a grade of B- or better on all coursework
- Completion of all requirements within 7 years
- Passage of the Comprehensive Exam
- Completed Petition to Graduate form submitted to campus administration
Program Requirements
Students enrolled in the EdS in Curriculum and Instruction degree program are required to complete 30 credit hours distributed as follows: Core course requirements, 27 credit hours; Elective course requirements, 3 credit hours.
