PC6416 - Counseling Internship I3 credit hour(s) Expanding on the student’s practicum experience, this course requires an independent and appropriate clinical field experience in an approved counseling setting that promotes continued development of professional counseling skills. The purpose of the field experience is to provide an opportunity to practice counseling skills in an applied setting under the supervision of the field-site experienced practitioner. Students participate in a variety of counseling activities that a professional counselor is expected to perform. The field experience is supported by a faculty led seminar with the purpose of helping the student to synthesize all elements of their program and field experience to achieve a greater understanding of the professional practices of a clinical mental health counselor.
